E46 roof rack lock cutting
2003 e46 -lost all keys for roof rack
Had to pick all the locks to get the racks off the car.
It must've been on the roof for at least a year.
I have a roof rack that fits F30/F31, the keyway is same
but not the bitting
Somewhat stuck, need to pick locks.
Removal of lock cylinders
After i got the all the locking caps off the racks, it is time to extract the cores.
Parts to be alined.
Wiper insert works fine, depress the sliders/pins.
All, including locking tab needs to be at he shear line in order to push the core out.
Make cylinder fit key
I will actully make the old lock fit the new key instead of the other way asound (the usual method).
This would make the old key, if found, still work as before.
The newer key will not open the older lock.
Start grinding metal
Lets begin "cutting" the lock ; P
"Dremel" tool, excess metal will now be removed.
Looks perfectly fine.
Testing the lock, all four seems to work.
