Trust Oxxtron 1300VA
Battery swap
The problem
Started suspecting one or two cells had given up the ghost.
This was proven when a power outage showed that
the UPS couln't stay alive long enough to allow the computer to hibenate.
Teardown
Rear and under the unit a few screws were located, no "security" bits.
Nothing really could be done more than be careful coming into contact
with internal parts, didn't have the patience to run it completely empty
I dont know what they mean by "no user serviceable parts inside".
Some measurements
Some verification of failiurepoint was not too much work.
Connected a charger to each cell and let it do a low current
recharge o each cell individually.
Inside Trust Oxxtron, charger connected
After just testing the first cell in line the result was not impressive.
The cell replacement
Removal the heatspreader (IHS) needs to be done carefully.
Dual battery, in series 24V 7Ah ~170Wh
"Heavy duty" sealed, non-serviceable
for some reason no local sourcing was available
for 2.5mm² 4.75mm
female crimp shoes,
so solder it has to be instead.
Soldered in series, 50W PTC iron used
Carefuly ressembled, dont want to come in contact with parts inside.
